Nurses set to make Wishes come true for patients in Ipswich Region
Blessing Makoni, Director of Ipswich Nurses, has welcomed the Partnership with Ambulance Wish Queensland, “Ipswich Nurses is part of the West Moreton community palliative care organisation who are existing supporters of Ambulance Wish Queensland, and we have seen the benefits that Wishes have for our patients and the community.”
“We wanted to make sure that we could provide the same opportunity for our community patients to access the program. When we are working within the community, we are now able to let patients in our care know about the Ambulance Wish Queensland program and how they can access the program through Ipswich Nurses.”
“Wishes are a vital part of palliative care. For a patient to be able to spend time with their loved ones, to visit a place that means a lot to them or brings them spiritual peace, and to create memories that will sustain them and those they love is invaluable. We see it as a closing of the loop of life.”
“I often think about what my Wish would be, and I’d love to visit my homeland of Zimbabwe in an Ambulance Wish Jet! An opportunity to reconnect with people from my life, to visit home, to connect with the places that I love, yes, that is what I would wish for,” said Blessing.
While we don’t have a jet yet, thanks to partners like Ipswich Nurses helping us to fulfil more and more wishes than ever before, for more and more Queenslanders, you never know what the future will hold.
Louise O’Neill, Palliative Care Queensland’s CEO, welcomed Ipswich Nurses joining as Service Partners, “Ipswich Nurses are an amazing organisation and we are very proud to have them as our service partner. Through this partnership Ambulance Wish Queensland will connect with fulfill more wishes for local residents across the Ipswich region.”
