The Eligibility for Ambulance Wish Queensland
SUPPORT: The Wish Recipient must be a current patient of one of our partner specialist palliative care services
RESIDENCE: The Wish Recipient can reside at a home, hospice, hospital or care facility within a 150km radius from Brisbane CBD
LOCATION: The Ambulance Wish request location must be within a 150km radius from Brisbane CBD
DIAGNOSIS: The Wish Recipient must have a terminal diagnosis of a life-limiting condition and be expected to live less than 12 months
MOBILITY: The wish recipient must require considerable assistance with mobility (Australia-modified Karnofsky Performance Status of 50 or below) and/or frequent personal care
CONSENT: The Wish Recipient must be able to consent to the Ambulance Wish
GOALS OF CARE: Clear goals of care must be in place
WISH TYPE: The Wish must be low in complexity and risk
Ideas for Wishes
Wishes are individualised and usually have a special connection/meaning for the wish recipient, some ideas:
- Visit their home/pet
- Visit their child/grandchild/great-grandchild
- Visit the beach/ocean
- Visit the botanic gardens
- Visit a gallery or museum
