Rodney’s Wish was to visit his wife in her new aged care facility

Rodney’s family mean the world to him. On a beautiful sunny Brisbane day, Ambulance Wish Queensland’s privilege was to enable Rodney to spend time surrounded by those he loves, celebrating milestones and creating memories forever in his wife Lola’s new home.

Joined by daughters Delaney and Mallory, Rodney and Lola were reunited at Lola’s new abode and Rodney eagerly explored her new surrounds. Following the tour, Delaney and Mallory treated them to a special morning tea, followed by a decadent lunch prepared by the aged care facilities inhouse Chefs, to celebrate the couple’s 61st wedding anniversary, which took place at the end of April. As they enjoyed their gourmet experience, it was wonderful to see a family reunited as they reminisced, shared stories and basked in the love of each other’s company.

But the day was also a double celebration, with a special call made to Philip, their son, to wish him a happy 60th birthday. A truly great day of milestones that meant the world to everyone involved and created new memories that will be with Rodney, Lola, Delaney, Mallory and Philip forever.

Thank you to our Wish Team Mark, Brayden and Louisa, and to St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane for making this wish come true and creating memories forever. And special thanks to the staff and Chefs at Lola’s aged care facility for going above and beyond to help today’s wish come true.

Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories forever.
