Chris’s Wish was to go for a ride in a helicopter

Chris loves action and adventure movies, especially those moments of adrenaline-fuelled action where the hero does the impossible. So, on Chris’s birthday Ambulance Wish Queensland made the impossible possible, enabling Chris, as Arnie would say to ‘Get to the Chopper!’ to take to the air on a helicopter adventure, like so many heroes in the action movies he loves.\

With dad, Garry and twin brothers Oliver and Adrian watching from the helipad, a beaming Chris, mum Delita and Robina Hospital Palliative Care Unit clinical escort George, boarded a helicopter at SeaWorld for an aerial tour of the stunning Gold Coast Broadwater for a 10-minute joy ride. Wearing matching Aviator’s to the pilot, Chris clearly enjoyed being the star of his own action movie.

As the chopper returned to earth, it was clear to everyone involved that Chris was still up in the air on cloud nine as the Wish of a lifetime came true.

Thank you to our volunteers Kristy, Jennifer and Kate, photographer Nathan Hughes Photography, service partner Robina Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the entire team at SeaWorld Helicopters for going above and beyond to make Chris’s wish come true.

What a way to celebrate a 35th birthday. Happy Birthday, Chris; we hope that the day created memories forever for you and your loved ones.

Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories.
