Arna’s Wish was to visit her home and spend time with her family
For Arna, home and family have always been at the heart of her world, and for her Ambulance Wish, she wanted nothing more than to go home and spend some quality time with those she loves in the place she adores.
And on a beautiful Brisbane summer day, our Ambulance Wish Queensland team was delighted to arrange a visit to the family home where Arna’s family joined her for a special day of reminiscing, memory making and those little moments of joy that can only truly happen when a family connects and shares their love.
For Arna’s wish, she was joined by Brother Terrance, nephew Chris with wife Melinda and children Henryk and Eliana, nephew Nick with daughters Giovanna and Lucia, sister-in-law Helenka and friend Julie. Given the size of the clan, it was no surprise that not everyone could make it in person, but thanks to the wonders of technology, the tyranny of distance can be overcome with Arna’s brother Tony and fiancé Jenny joining the Wish via Zoom and iPad. But what made today’s wish extra special was holding the newest edition to the family, baby Eliana again.
As the family reminisced over a wealth of family photos, it reminded us that the simple power of shared memories is universal. And today, we were honoured to have helped create another chapter in Arna’s family album.
Thank you to our wonderful wish team John, Cameron, Tara and Alicea for fulling this last wish and creating memories forever.
Thank you to St Vincent’s Private Hospital Palliative Care Unit for partnering with us on this special occasion to fulfil Arna’s wish and Vlad Photography for their support.
Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories.
We would also like to thank our SEQ Hub Local Supporting partner GQS for their support of Ambulance Wish Queensland’s South-East Queensland hub.
