Nicole’s wish was to put his feet in the water at Burleigh Heads

Nicole has spent her life caring for others as a nurse and found an immense freedom in the ocean as a surfer. So, when the opportunity came to fulfil her wish, her request was simple: to feel the water one last time at Burleigh Heads Beach.

Supported by her husband, Nicole was eased out onto the soft sand. The sound of the waves, the salty air and the gentle caress of the ocean made everything else fall away.

Her family were emotional and thankful. This was an opportunity for Nicole to say goodbye to the water she had spent years in. A farewell that honoured who she is and everything she has been.

Thank you to our wonderful wish team Tiff, John, Albert and Molly for fulfilling this last wish and John Bradbury Photography for creating memories forever for Nicole’s loved ones.

Thank you to our service partner Metro North Hospital and Health Service – Community Palliative Care Service and the support of Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club on this special occasion.

Ambulance Wish Queensland is the signature program of Palliative Care Queensland and is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our team to fulfil wishes and create memories.
