Valma’s wish was to return to her childhood home
To return to her childhood home that had been in the family for over 5 generations, was what Valma had been wishing for the most.
Sitting out on her favourite spot on the property, reliving fond memories spanning over decades, Valma was joined by her two granddaughters, Jasmine, and Candice, as they overlooked Cabbage Tree Creek, famous for its boating and yachting scene.
As the three of them sat on a beautiful winter’s day overlooking the creek, many stories were told as memories of her childhood came flooding back. Valma’s Granddaughters recounted the story they had been told as children of Valma and her brother Dez’s swimming race in the creek.
Valma, a keen swimmer, and Queensland representative, as a child used to race her brother Dez in the creek when they were younger. On one occasion however, Valma was again racing her brother and beating him across the creek when he yelled out “Something has got me!”. Not to be deterred by her fibbing brother, Valma powered on to the other side of the creek for a win, only to realise that in fact her brother had been bitten by a small shark!
As many more memories were shared, including holidays with her husband on their boat and Vintage boat races at Shorncliffe, it was clear that Valma was exactly where she wanted to be, creating memories forever with her family.
Thank you to our wonderful wish team Jess, Tim and Julie for fulfilling this last wish and Ange Costes Photography for creating memories forever for their loved ones.
