Stephen’s wish was to enjoy the sounds of the soulful bagpipes from his Scottish heritage
There are few sounds that stir the soul of a Scot more than the rousing sound of the bagpipes, and for Stephen, Ambulance Wish Queensland made his wish to hear a piper play Flower of Scotland come true.
But Flower of Scotland was not the only tune that rang out through Sinnamon Village, Dovetree, thanks to the skill and talent of Piper Joe. To mark Stephen’s 50th birthday, celebrated two days earlier with his twin brother who was visiting from Scotland, Stephen, sister Anne, niece Rachel and long-time carer Camille enjoyed a rendition of happy birthday. As the performance continued, it was time for Joe to wow the family with renditions of Stephens’ favourite Celtic FC anthems, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Caledonia and Danny Boy.
For Stephen and his loved ones, it was a day to remember.
We would also like to thank our Palliative Care Service Partner Metro South HHS and the Wish Team Dale and Tessa without who we could not have delivered this wish and created forever memories for another family.
Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories forever.
