Renee’s wish was to take her family to Dreamworld

Palliative Care Queensland is excited to announce that Mater Health Services – Cancer Care, are our newest Ambulance Wish Queensland Specialist Palliative Care Service Partner. This means that patients who are under the care of Mater Health Services palliative care team and meet the eligibility criteria for the Ambulance Wish Queensland program are able to have an onsite or offsite Wish. If this is you or you know a patient and their family who would benefit from having an Ambulance Wish fulfilled, please chat with your palliative care team.

It was a special day for Renee as we fulfilled our first Ambulance Wish with Mater Health Services.

Renee’s wish was to take her daughter to Dreamworld.

Having had the opportunity to take her two older son’s on a trip to Dreamworld when they were younger, Renee’s wish to finally take her daughter to experience Dreamworld and see her family enjoy everything it had to offer.  The team at Dreamworld went above and beyond to make the day special for Renee and her family, treating them like VIP’s, even including a visit from Dreamworld’s favourite mascots Kenny Koala and Belinda Brown. The day was filled with such happiness as Renee witnessed the excitement and delight on her children’s faces as they braved the giant drop and roller coasters. Renee even joined her children on the classic vintage cars and the Sky Voyager remarking the time spent with her family as “awesome!”.

The day was topped off by a cuddle from Sian the Koala and enjoying a double scoop ice cream with her family.

Thank you to our wonderful wish team Sue, Katherine, Angela and Jenna for fulfilling this last wish and Ange Costes Photographyfor creating forever memories.

Thank you to our newest service partner Mater Health Service – Cancer Care and the support from the amazing team at Dreamworld who went above and beyond on this special occasion.
