Celebrating Our Volunteers During National Volunteer Week 2025

As part of our National Volunteer Week 2025 celebrations, we are proud to recognise the outstanding commitment and contributions of our volunteers through the PCQ Shining Star Awards and Milestone Lapel Pins. These awards celebrate the incredible hours our volunteers have dedicated to supporting individuals and families across Queensland facing life-limiting illness, dying, death and grief.

This year’s theme, “Connecting Communities,” beautifully reflects your efforts to bring comfort, care, and connection to individuals and families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
Your contribution is not only deeply appreciated—it’s essential. Whether you’ve offered a few hours or several hundred, your impact ripples across the lives you’ve touched, helping to build a more compassionate

 Queensland.
“I chose to volunteer with Palliative Care Queensland because of my belief that everyone deserves incredible support and an arrangement of services with every step of their life, especially with a life-limiting condition — which is also why I am studying a healthcare degree (Paramedicine) to further this motivation to help make a difference.”

Shining Star Awards

The Shining Star Awards recognise the number of hours contributed from May 2024 to May 2025.

Congratulations!

Milestone Contribution Lapel Pins

We are proud to present lapel pins to volunteers who have reached lifetime contribution milestones of 100 or 200+ hours.

These hours represent more than just time – they reflect deep compassion, dedication and a shared commitment to creating a more caring and connected Queensland. All recipients will receive a personalised certificate and letter of recognition acknowledging their contributions as part of this year’s “Connecting Communities” theme.

To every volunteer, whether you’ve given one hour or one hundred, thank you for your commitment and service. You are truly our shining stars.

We warmly invite you all to attend a Volunteer Recognition Celebration at your nearest hub:
