Ray’s Wish was to visit Wynnum foreshore with his family and friends
On a picture-perfect Queensland winter’s day, Ray wished to create forever memories for his family and friends by enjoying a spectacular afternoon of celebration by the sparkling waters of Wynnum.
”I wanted to go to the French Riviera, but instead, they brought me to Wynnum, but I am OK with that,” said the ever-mischievous Ray. Clearly, a man who enjoys being with those who matter to him the most, Ray was joined by his wife Jenny, son Mark with partner Sara and impending first grand-child due to arrive in November, daughter Kate, his two brothers Darryl and Greg, Mum, Daisy (an evergreen 96) and a host of close friends and neighbours.
Throughout the afternoon, Ray took part in all the things he enjoys the most, spending time with his loved ones, eating, drinking, and reminiscing over old memories prompted by a photo album. Ray then headed out onto Wynnum Jetty for a photo against the blue sky and sparkling ocean, which we are sure will become a forever memory in the family photo album.
We don’t know about you, but we think that as Ray enjoyed his time with his family, he wouldn’t have traded an afternoon in Wynnum for champagne on La Croisette in Cannes.
Thank you to John, Brayden and Sharon, the wish team who fulfilled the wish and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane and Ange Costes Photography for their support. We would also like to acknowledge Brisbane City Council for allowing access to power supply for the Wish Recipient’s needs, particularly Ben Reid Acting Senior Technical Officer Park East who was there on arrival to assist in connecting Ray’s equipment to the power supply.
Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories forever.
