Ray’s wish was to visit his local coffee shop with family and friends
Robert, who goes by Ray, was Ambulance Wish’s 4th wish in 2024. His wish? A simple and heartfelt visit to his local coffee shop attached to the Redlands Church of Christ. As a member of the church, Ray, regularly visited Bean Grounded Café.
Ray is well known in the Redland community, originally a Navy Officer from the American City of Nashville, he came to be known as the local bus driver for Redland College.
Alongside his wife and family, Ray was also joined by 30 of his closest friends from across QLD. They, along with his local congregation, made the day special for him. Even friends from as far away as Gympie and the Gold Coast made the trip to spread joy and love.
With all the attention and affection, Ray humorously commented that he felt like a rockstar.
‘I didn’t think I was this popular.’
Amidst the shared moments, coffee mugs clinked, and slices of cake were shared. The small coffee shop within the Redlands Church of Christ became a place where love, laughter and memories flowed, and a community came together to share coffee with a local legend.
Thank you to our wonderful wish team Francesca, Sue, Chloe and Louisa for fulfilling this last wish and Ange Costes Photography for creating memories forever for his loved ones.
Thank you to our service partner St Vincent’s Community Specialist Palliative Care and the support of Bean Grounded Cafe on this special occasion.
