Queenslanders Unite to Fulfil the Wishes of Those Living with a Life Limiting Illness, Raising More Than $40,000

A night that celebrated the incredible stories, connections and life perspectives of those on their end-of-life journey so that Ambulance Wish Queensland can continue to fulfil final wishes, create memories that matter and bring comfort when it’s needed most.

More than 160 Queenslanders gathered at the Noosa Boathouse on the Sunshine Coast, with one thing in mind: to help raise funds for Ambulance Wish Queensland. With the help of every guest, the event raised over an incredible $40,000!

As the most successful fundraiser for Ambulance Wish Queensland to date, Palliative Care Queensland CEO Louise O’Neill was thrilled at the success. “It’s extraordinary to see such a strong community come together to and to witness the power of compassion. Every dollar raised will help us fulfil more wishes and create memories that matter most to Queenslanders at a significant time in their lives.”

“These moments, whether it’s a visit to a place of significance or just the simple act of spending time with loved ones, remind us of the power of connection, compassion and  comfort at the end of life.”

Guests were welcomed by event MC Caroline Hutchinson, who kept the evening flowing with professionalism and humour. The night featured personal and emotional reflections from Wish recipient families like Ramesh, who shared his sister Usha’s story. He shared the deep connection between the two and shared precious memories that highlighted who Usha was: a person with warmth, strength and spirit. His reflections were a moving tribute to his sister and a testament to what Ambulance Wish Queensland can provide.

We also heard from Angie and her daughter Sophia, who spoke in honour of their beloved husband and father Bruce who had his wish in Noosa. Additionally, Leeane, a clinical nurse from Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, moved the crowd with her account of Jamie’s final wish.

The evening also featured a live and silent auction run by Helping Hands, with Tony the Auctioneer energising the crowd into action. A highlight of the night was a $7,000 jewellery raffle piece donated by Jewels for Generosity, which left many in awe.

Entertainment was provided by the dynamic Radio Club Band, and the night was captured beautifully by Ange Costes Photography and Noosa Photobooths. A full gallery of event images is available online:
