Patricks wish was to visit Sutton beach with his family

As is so often the case, the beauty of a wish lies in its simplicity. Patrick’s wish was to visit Suttons Beach with his family.

Surrounded by his loved ones, Patrick’s mood instantly shifted once he saw the ocean lapping at the shores of the golden beach. You could not wipe the smile off his face as his granddaughter proudly showed off the shells she had collected for him.

The rest of the family were swapping stories and sharing memories of days gone by, standing by Patricks side.

It was fish and chips for lunch, a meal that he savoured. It was one the best meals he’s had in a long time, washed down with a 0% beer.

With perfect weather and the beauty of Moreton Bay as the backdrop, Patrick posed for as many photos as possible. More than that, he was simply enjoying the time spent together, grateful that he could share this wish with the ones that meant the world to him.

Thank you to our wonderful wish team Sue, Emma and Celeste for fulfilling this last wish and for creating memories forever for his loved ones.

Thank you to our service partner Metro North Hospital and Health Service- Redcliffe Hospital Palliative Care Unit on this special occasion.

Ambulance Wish Queensland is the signature program of Palliative Care Queensland and is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our team to fulfil wishes and create memories.
