Patrica’s wish was to attend her celebration of life party in her local community of Blackbutt

Patricia, lovingly known as Trish, is a beloved member of the Blackbutt community. As such, her wish was to celebrate her life surrounded by the people she has touched so deeply. With the support of Ambulance Wish Queensland, her wish became a reality. Held in the local park at Blackbutt, Trish’s celebration of life party was a vibrant testament to her spirit. The atmosphere was filled with joy, with over 40 community members gathering as the Blackbutt Lions Club fired up the BBQ, the local coffee van brewed comforting cups, and the local band filled the air with melodies. Even the local Member of Parliament, Deb Frecklington, recognised the significance of her contributions and joined the event.

Trish has impacted the community through her ownership of the local nursery, where she shared her expertise and passion for gardening, as well as her business ‘Just Stuff,’ which showcased her knack ofrestoration and unwavering willingness to assist anyone in need. Trish’s legacy extends beyond business ventures, as she has assisted in organising festivals, markets and events that united the community, including the Twilight Markets, Blackbutt Spring Garden Competition and running the canteen during the Blackbutt Avocado Festival.

Trish’s philanthropic spirit has also extended to fundraising for the Benarkin Primary School – a small institution with 60 students and limited resources. Upon learning that not all children could attend the school camp due to financial constraints, Trish took charge. Through her efforts, she raised an astounding $5600, ensuring that every child could experience the camp whilst also providing sporting equipment to the school. Trish’s commitment to the school went beyond fundraising, as her love of gardening saw her teaching the children gardening in the school Vege Garden, leaving an indelible mark in their hearts.

A living tribute to her compassion and community spirit, a tree was donated on the day from the local nursey and will be planted in Blackbutt in her honour. Trish’s legacy of love, kindness and community will live on through this symbolic tree – a testament to her remarkable impact on the lives of those around her.
