Lunch with your loved ones: Townsville University Hospital Palliative Care Unit was transformed into a fine dining experience
To launch our Ambulance Wish Queensland Townsville Hub it was our pleasure to treat Townsville University Hospital Palliative Care Unit patients and loved ones to a special lunch.
Our wish team transformed each palliative care room into a fine dining experience – with a table cloth, autumn posies, handmade crochet blanket and gourmet lunch for the wish recipients and their loved ones. A professional photographer was available to capture the special moment and stories were shared, where a volunteer poet transformed these stories into an individualised poem for each wish recipient. Sometimes the most rewarding wishes are the simple ones and today it was clear to see that for everyone involved that moments of joy and memories forever were created.
Thank you to The Hon. Yvette D’Ath MP Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Aaron Harper MP Member for Thuringowa, Scott Stewart MP Member for Townsville and Les Walker MP Member for Mundingburra, Tony Mooney (Chair of the Board) and Kiran Keys (CEO) from Townsville Hospital and Health Services, as well as Peter Vinnicombe from QAS, for being part of today’s collective onsite wish, meeting our wish recipients and their families and supporting Ambulance Wish Queensland.
