Leanne’s Wish was to visit SkyPoint Observation Deck at Q1 Gold Coast
Leanne’s Wish was to reach the highest heights in Australia, which meant ascending the mind-bogglingly tall Q1 tower on the Gold Coast for a trip to the SkyPoint Observation deck. Offering panoramic views from 270m above sea level, SkyPoint’s unique vantage point lets you take in the stunning coastal and hinterland landscapes with breathtaking 360-degree views on offer for those brave enough to conquer the heights.
Joined by partner Alan, mum Marcia and partner Paul, brother Robert and aunt and uncle Brenda and Gordan, Leanne arrived at Skypoint with a sense of excitement and enthusiasm in the air. Unfortunately, there was a tiny challenge; the weather on the Gold Coast couldn’t have been worse, with only the ducks having fun in this morning’s bucketing rain.
Would the breathtaking views be on offer, or would the heights be scaled only for the inclement weather to put a dampener on things? It wasn’t looking good as the family headed from ground level up 77 floors to the observation deck. As the elevators opened and the family emerged, it was as if someone had turned off the taps; the rain stopped, the clouds parted, and a glimmer of sunshine and blue sky appeared in the distance.
As the family took in the view, spent time together sharing in the magical vistas and each other’s company, we had a sneaking suspicion that even in the pouring rain, their smiles would have been enough to brighten even the darkest day.
