Gerlinde’s Wish was to visit the Little Ship Club on Stradbroke Island

In Gerlinde’s own words: ‘a magical day.’

Gerlinde’s wish was to have lunch and visit the Little Ship Club on Stradbroke Island with her husband, Shane, two daughters, parents and family friends. A visit that meant a lot to both Gerlinde and Shane.

Together for nearly three decades, Gerlinde and Shane married two years ago on New Years Day here. Stradbroke Island has a special place in Gerlinde memories – multiple years spending time here with her family.

As they set out on the ferry journey from Cleveland, Gerlinde insisted on soaking in every moment from the outdoor deck. With her eyes closed, she took in the calmness of the water, the rays of sunshine and the salty sea air.

As lunch arrived, the family sat outside close to the waterfront with an amazing view of the beach and the rest of the island. They were lucky enough to have the sun stay out all day – a welcome change from the previous weeks weather.

What a magical day it was.

Thank you to our wonderful wish team John, Sue and Sarah for fulfilling this last wish and Annie from Adoreyou Photography for creating memories forever for their loved ones.

Thank you to our service partner Metro South Health Community Palliative Care Service and the support of Sealink on this special occasion.
