Denis’s wish was to sit around a bonfire with his friends and family

Back at home and surrounded by 80 of his friends and family, Denis’s Wish was to sit around a bonfire.

The bonfire was a tradition on Denis’s property. By his side stood his wife, Sue, their son Matt, daughter-in-law Erin, and their grandson Henry. Together they have experienced many bonfires, often acting like a beacon bringing his family and friends together.

Denis is known affectionately among his friends as the “pommy jackaroo,” a nod to his English heritage and his love for the outdoors. Camping trips with family and friends are his passion.

Throughout the morning, the sound of laughter, chatter and a crackling fire filled the air. As a loved and respected member of his community, Denis made the effort to talk to everyone; sharing stories and sipping beers with as many people he could (also a cheeky whisky or two).

Moments like these are Denis’s bread and butter, surrounded by the ones he loved most – creating new memories and reliving the old. The kind of memories that warm the soul and fill the heart with joy.
