Bruce’s Wish was to visit Australia Zoo with his wife
For animal lover Bruce, there was only one possible destination for his Ambulance Wish, Australia Zoo, where he wished to share a magical animal encounter with his wife Jenny and her children Karry and Chester.
Another reason for visiting Australia Zoo was that Jenny had not visited the Zoo before and Bruce was thrilled to be able to take her for a first visit, one that would create memories to last a lifetime.
At the top of Bruce’s to-do list was the personal encounter he was going to share with some of Australia Zoo’s larger residents, the spectacular Giraffes, which he was able to hand feed thanks to the Australia Zoo team.
The family were also hugely entertained by the Wildlife Warriors show at the Crocoseum where Robert Irwin and gigantic crocs wowed the audience, creating smiles for one and all.
Despite the slightly inclement January weather, the family enjoyed a memorable day, connected with spectacular wildlife, and shared an experience that clearly meant so much to everyone involved.
Thank you to John, Aimee, Dale, Ange and Vanessa, who fulfilled Bruce’s Wish, Wynnum-Manly Palliative Care Unit – Metro South, Ange Costes Photography and Lyn and the entire Australia Zoo team for their support.
Also thank you to Annie Saunders on behalf of the St Mark’s Craft Group for their kind donation of handmade quilts to the Ambulance Wish Queensland Program. Our Wish Team gifted Bruce with one of these beautiful handmade quilts.
Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories forever.
