Mingary Care and GQS recognised as Foundation Sponsors of Ambulance Wish Queensland
Ambulance Wish Queensland (AWQ), the signature program of Palliative Care Queensland, is pleased to recognise GQS and Mingary Care as Foundation Sponsors.
This recognition comes as part of their early and ongoing support for the program. The collaboration has allowed Ambulance Wish Queensland to evolve and foster compassionate communities across Queensland.
Following on from the successful launch of the AWQ Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba Hubs, this sponsorship acknowledgment marks a new chapter as the program aims to expand and embed its services across the state, driving a meaningful cultural shift in how society approaches death, dying and grief.
With the support of these two dedicated sponsors, AWQ will continue to strengthen its presence across all four hubs – Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Townsville, ensuring that more individuals receive compassionate and meaningful end-of-life experiences.
Palliative Care QLD CEO, Louise O’Neill greatly appreciates these ongoing partnerships, which have been instrumental in ensuring the fulfillment of final wishes.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to Sue Mason-Baker and her team at Mingary Care as well as Zac Gleeson and the team at GQS for their generosity and support in the development of AWQ.”
“We couldn’t be prouder to recognise these incredible organisations for their contributions to Queenslanders.”
“AWQ can continue to further enhance its services and reach more Queenslanders in more communities. Ensuring we can make a profound difference in the lives of those in palliative care.”
GQS Director Zac Gleeson was influenced to return by seeing the power of the program and the profound impact it has on Queenslander’s lives.
“We wanted to continue our long-standing support for AWQ as it aligns with our team values and supports the wonderful people and families within the communities that we work in and call home.”
“We are at a stage in life where each of us is experiencing our parents, grandparents, friends and colleagues approaching their end of life, and we are more aware than ever of the importance of creating opportunities for people to connect with the people, places and activities that matter.”
“Having witnessed firsthand a wish it only cemented to me the unbelievable work the program is continually doing.”
Similarly, Mingary Care Managing Director Sue Mason-Baker believe Ambulance Wish Queensland represents a model of care that all services should strive towards.
“Mingary Care has four components to its model of care. One of those is last wishes. We know that many people would like a last wish but lack the resources and support required. Ambulance Wish Qld is an ideal partner to deliver these precious last wishes.”
“Honouring these wishes gives closure to the dying person and helps friends and family through grief. Mingary Care stands proud as a foundation sponsor to continue this important work.”
