Malcolm’s wish was to have a picnic at Kirra Beach with his family
For many of our Wish Recipients people and places are at the heart of their wish as they connect with the things that mean the most to them. For Malcolm, that is especially true – he gathered with his loved ones at Kirra Beach, famous as one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic surfing spots and a place where he and his family had holidayed often at the Kirra Beach Tourist Park.
Joined by his wife Susan, children Brenden and Corrine, daughter-in-law Dom and grandson Carter, Malcolm was able to gaze over the wide rolling dunes and calming waters as he enjoyed a picnic with his family. Enjoying the serenity of the beach brought back memories of Malcolm’s younger days as a Surf Lifesaver, having achieved his bronze medallion at the age of 15.
Though Malcolm was unable to leave his stretcher he was able to touch and hold some of Kirra Beach’s beautiful sand, the grit and weight of it bringing a familiar and comforting feeling as he enjoyed the view and the company of his family.
Thank you to our wonderful wish team Sophie, Regina and Julie for fulfilling this last wish and Ange Costes Photography for creating memories forever for their loved ones.
