AWQld Townsville Fundraising Gala Dinner Wrap Up
It is our pleasure to take this moment to extend a massive heartfelt thanks to the Townsville community who have embraced the Ambulance Wish Queensland program and supported our efforts to host our Annual Ambulance Wish Queensland Gala Fundraising Dinner on Friday 19th May at Rydges Southbank. To those that attended our dinner, it was a truly wonderful evening filled with laughter, heartfelt stories, celebration and generosity and we cannot thank you enough for your support shown on the night as you helped us reach our goals to support more regional Queenslanders fulfilling their final wishes.
We were honoured to have Mr Aaron Harper MP and QAS Deputy Commissioner Kari Arbouin, as guest speakers. Thank you, Aaron and Kari, for sharing your stories and commitment to our program and thank you to CR Liam Mooney for your attendance and support of the evening representing Mayor Jenny Hill.
During the evening we enjoyed the delicate sounds of Pimlico State High Schools string quartet as well as the beautiful vocal rendition of Christina Perri’s song, A Thousand Years, sung by former Pimlico State High School student Abbi Booth. Thank you to our entertainers Foreversocial Photobooth allowing our guests to create their own memories, Sneaky Beats who livened up the evening and have everyone on the dance floor and Chasing Dreams Photography by V who captured every moment the guests shared together.
Thank you to our host Luke Lum for his support of the evening and a big thank you to our Wish Recipient families and friends, volunteers and specialist palliative care service partners and friends, who shared their stories and brought to light the importance the vital role we each play in caring for those in palliative care, allowing them to die well, with dignity and respect whilst ensuring an opportunity is made to create memories forever. Without your experiences, we could not understand that power and meaning of a Wish.
Overall, we managed to raise more than $10,000!
We sincerely want to say a big thank you to all of you that donated on the evening. It is thanks to you, that we can continue to support the final wishes of those in palliative care.
