School Community’s Tune-up Fundraising Efforts
Pimlico State High School became the latest community organisation to throw their support behind Ambulance Wish Queensland (AWQld) program with their year 12 musicians choosing AWQld as their charity of choice for 2022. The 101 musicians took to the stage from the school’s ensembles – Pimlico Voices, Big Band, Wind Symphony, Orpheus Chamber Strings and Symphony Orchestra, raising much-needed funds for the program. James Cook University donated its facilities for the evening, and community members were treated to a wonderful evening of amazing performances at the Charity Benefit Concert 2022, raising a total amount of $9,000 for the program.
Palliative Care Queensland Volunteers Peter Vinnicombe and Lauren Tenardi attended the concert on behalf of the program, “On behalf of Palliative Care Queensland, I would like to thank the students, teachers and community of Pimlico State High School for their support of Ambulance Wish Queensland and congratulate them on a spectacular performance. Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything, and I think everyone here this evening would agree with Plato’s wise words.”
“Since we launched Ambulance Wish Queensland in Townsville, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity and spirit that runs through our community. The concert was a fantastic celebration of community spirit and kindness as the entire school community came together to hear a wonderful concert and to raise funds for a program that makes a real difference in the lives of palliative care patients and their loved ones. The funds raised will help us to fulfil more last wishes and create forever memories in partnership with our good friends at Townsville University Hospital. More wishes for recipients like Mark, who wanted to watch the Cowboys one last time, or Christine, who wished to spend time at home with her family and friends – each wish is unique and personal, meaning more to each recipient and their loved ones than imaginable.”

And that’s why events like this one are so special, they raise funds, create awareness and help us to fulfil more wishes for more Townsville residents than ever before.
