Ambulance Wish Queensland Makes Wish Come True for Dog Lover
For Darrell, there is nothing more special than sharing a moment with one of man’s best friends. Undergoing care at home with St Vincent’s Community Palliative Care, Darrell was moved to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Tuesday. Thanks to our great partnerships with both organisations and with a little help from Empower Assistance Dogs, we were able to fulfil Darrell’s Wish to spend some time engaging with a playful pooch.
Empower Assistance Dogs enhance the quality of life and independence for people with disabilities by providing professionally trained and government certified guide, hearing and assistance dogs. Today they brought along a furry superstar, Gypsy, to spend some time with Darrell. Gypsy is a beautiful deaf Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who was only too happy to hop up onto Darrell’s bed for cuddles and a pat.
From Darrell’s thumbs-up and smile to Gypsy’s wagging tail, it was clear to see that in a matter of moments man and dog were the best of friends.
Thank you to our Wish Team of Jason, Ange, Lynne and Nat, and to St Vincent’s Community Palliative Care and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for making this wish come true, creating memories forever.
Thank you to Ange Costes Photography and Craig from Empower Assistance Dogs for their support.
Ambulance Wish Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, and we thank the staff and volunteers at both Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service who help our Palliative Care Queensland team to fulfil wishes and create memories forever
